Nine other countries, including France and the UK, also plan to recognise Palestinian statehood next week.

Portugal will officially recognise the State of Palestine on September 21, joining Australia, Canada, France, and the UK in this decision ahead of a UN conference. This move follows a UN inquiry labeling Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide and comes after years of debate in Portugal’s parliament.
