In the Niagara Region, the Poppy Project honors Remembrance Day by adorning local museums, churches, and legions with crocheted poppies, led by Christine Girardi of the Niagara Falls History Museum. Initiated in 2020, the project expanded internationally during the pandemic, gathering 11,000 knitted poppies from Canada, the U.S., and Europe. The installations aim to spark reflection on the sacrifices made by Canadian troops, remaining displayed until November 12. Various Remembrance Day services and parades are scheduled across the region on November 11.
