Polytechnique Montréal is expanding its Order of the White Rose scholarship program, honoring the 14 women killed in the 1989 shooting. This year, 14 scholarships worth $50,000 each will be awarded to female engineering students, a significant increase from the previous single annual award. The initiative aims to support women’s advancement in engineering and commemorate the victims and their families. As of now, the percentage of women in engineering programs at Polytechnique has grown from 11% in 1989 to nearly 32%.
