A San Francisco police sergeant stated he did not hear a controversial remark from the mother of accused assassin Luigi Mangione, who allegedly killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione is suspected of stalking Thompson and shooting him outside a Manhattan hotel. While NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny reported that Kathleen Mangione suggested her son could have committed the crime, the sergeant involved denied any such conversation took place. Mangione has pleaded not guilty and could face the death penalty if convicted.
