Haiti police name ex-senator among suspects facing arrest over deadly gang attacks

Authorities in Haiti have issued over a dozen arrest warrants against suspects accused of supporting gang members attacking a peaceful community near the capital for the past three weeks, resulting in dozens of deaths, including three police officers and one soldier. Former Senator Nenel Cassy and former legislator Alfredo Antoine are among those accused, with calls for a special international criminal tribunal to try those responsible for the violence. Gangs control 85% of Port-au-Prince, launching attacks on peaceful communities in an effort to seize more territory, resulting in over 5,600 deaths last year and leaving over one million people homeless in recent years according to the United Nations.
