The Government plans to fine social media bosses £10,000 if they fail to remove illegal knife advertisements from their sites, holding senior technology executives personally liable. Police will issue notices to online companies to remove specific content within two days, with executives facing significant fines if they do not comply. This initiative aims to combat the use of social media to market illegal weapons and glorify violence, in line with efforts to reduce knife crime levels and ban ninja-style swords following a tragic incident in 2022.
