PLUGGYAPE Malware Targets Ukrainian Defense Forces via Signal and WhatsApp

The Computer Emergency Response Team of Ukraine (CERT-UA) has reported new cyber attacks on its defense forces involving malware named PLUGGYAPE, occurring between October and December 2025. These attacks have been linked to the Russian hacking group Void Blizzard, also known as Laundry Bear or UAC-0190, with medium confidence. The group has been active for several years, focusing on compromising Ukrainian military systems. This highlights ongoing cybersecurity threats amid regional tensions.
