Pittsburgh — Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University are developing robot “dogs,” specifically one named Spotless, to assist in dangerous situations where humans cannot safely intervene. Spotless can detect hazardous gases, assess injuries, and gather information during search and rescue operations, significantly speeding up the process. The Defense Department’s investment in AI and robotics is contributing to Pittsburgh’s emergence as a tech hub. After its tasks, Spotless is recharged with a new battery instead of a treat.
