Following a late December power outage that caused severe damage in Pimicikamak Cree Nation, about 116 of the 4,000 evacuees have returned home as repairs continue. Chief David Monias is urging patience, emphasizing the need for safe living conditions and clean water. The community is assessing damage, with many homes requiring extensive repairs, and Monias is advocating for improved infrastructure to prevent future outages. Evacuees are in need of basic supplies, and donations can be made in Winnipeg.
