On Wednesday, naval vessels from New Zealand and Australia sailed through the Taiwan Strait, showcasing Australia’s commitment to an open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific according to Australia’s Department of Defence. China claims sovereignty over the strait, despite US and Taiwan asserting it as a vital trade route through which global container ships pass.
