Philippine VP Sara Duterte travels to The Hague to help father at ICC

Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte is traveling to the Netherlands to assist her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who was arrested in Manila on an ICC warrant and flown to The Hague over alleged “crimes against humanity” related to a drug crackdown. Despite President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s support for the arrest, Duterte’s legal team, including his daughter Veronica Duterte and former labour minister Silvestre Bello, are seeking clarity on his whereabouts and legal options. The ICC has been investigating Duterte’s actions since 2018, with over 7,000 deaths linked to his anti-drug operations, sparking protests for justice in the Philippines.
