A 25-year-old man from Prince Edward Island, Matthan Runighan, faces charges for promoting hatred and antisemitism, alongside several firearms offences. His social media posts prompted an investigation by RCMP, resulting in hate crime charges, which Chief Supt. Kevin Lewis stated are rare in P.E.I. Runighan was arrested multiple times for breaching release conditions related to these charges and has been in custody since October 10. He is set to appear in P.E.I. Supreme Court on January 13 to answer to the charges.
