At 7.25am on Tuesday morning, Paul Nicholls’ eight horses are ready to school ahead of big targets, surrounded by memories of past champions at Ditcheat. Despite not having horses of the same caliber as Kauto Star and Denman, Nicholls is focused on the likes of Ginny’s Destiny and Stage Star for their upcoming paces. With a competitive streak unmatched in the training ranks, Nicholls is motivated by rivalries, including with former assistant Dan Skelton, as he aims for 4,000 winners and continues to push for success despite sacrifices in his personal life.
