At least 40 people died and around 80 were injured when a paraglider dropped bombs during the Thadingyut festival in Myanmar’s Sagaing region, where attendees were also protesting against the military junta. Despite a warning that allowed some to flee, victims, including children, suffered horrific injuries as the junta increasingly uses paragliders due to international sanctions limiting access to aircraft.
