Pakistani pleads not guilty in alleged Iran plot to kill US official

Asif Raza Merchant, a Pakistani man with alleged ties to Iran, pleaded not guilty to plotting to assassinate a US official in retaliation for the killing of Qassem Soleimani. The 46-year-old allegedly attempted to hire a hitman to target a politician or government official in the United States. Merchant maintained his innocence in court, denying all charges related to the assassination plot.
