Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14 and seven years in jail for corruption, accused of accepting a gift of land from a real estate tycoon in exchange for laundered money during Khan’s tenure. Khan, who has been imprisoned since 2023, denies wrongdoing and claims the charges are politically motivated. Supporters rallied outside the parliament and prison demanding his release, as the government cited evidence of a “mega corruption scandal” involving Khan and his wife.
