Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to a five-day pause in hostilities during Eid al-Fitr, requested by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye. The temporary ceasefire, set to begin at midnight on Thursday, comes after weeks of deadly violence between the two neighboring countries. Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that the pause is offered in good faith and in accordance with Islamic norms, but warned that operations will resume with renewed intensity in case of any cross-border or terrorist incidents. Afghanistan’s Taliban government has also announced a temporary suspension of military operations against Pakistan during this period.
