An Ontario man, Mark Herbst, 69, cycled 30,000 kilometres across 25 countries over 11 months to raise about $50,000 for cancer research in memory of his late wife, Jackie, who died from cancer in 2021. Starting his journey in Bangkok on January 7, he faced logistical challenges but was supported by kind strangers along the way. Herbst aims to set the Guinness World Record for the oldest person to circumnavigate the globe by bicycle. He plans to write a book and pursue new fitness activities following his epic trip.
