A Winnipeg woman, Linda Klassen, is facing a debt of over $174,000 due to fraudulent transactions after her laptop was hacked in May 2024. Fraudsters accessed her accounts at Access and Steinbach Credit Unions, leading to substantial losses. Although Access covered some losses, Steinbach has denied liability, claiming the Klassens did not report previous fraud in a timely manner. Klassen has since filed a lawsuit against Steinbach Credit Union, seeking damages for the financial impact.
