US State Department Lowers Jamaica Travel Advisory to Level 2
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The U.S. State Department has updated its travel advisory for Jamaica from Level 3 (“reconsider travel”) to Level 2 (“exercise increased caution”) as of January 17, 2023. While no risk indicators were changed, travelers are advised to be cautious due to crime, health, and natural disaster risks, particularly following Hurricane Melissa’s impact. Tourist areas generally experience lower violent crime rates, yet reports of serious incidents, including sexual assaults, persist. Eleven areas remain at Level 4 (“Do Not Travel”) due to heightened crime risks.
