The Treaty Principles Bill was voted down at its second reading in Parliament, without much fanfare. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon did not participate in the debate, leaving Act’s plans on the Treaty debate unclear. Te Pāti Māori MP Hana-Rāwhiti Maipi-Clarke gained international attention for her haka during the first-reading debate, but the second reading was less memorable, with most of the public gallery leaving before the final vote.
