NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman addressed the media for the first time since Angel City FC defender Savy King collapsed during a match against Utah Royals on May 9, stating the league must ensure games do not continue in similar medical emergencies. King, who received immediate care and underwent surgery for a heart abnormality, is reported to be in excellent condition. Berman emphasized the need for improved protocols while acknowledging the emotional impact on players and the necessity of honoring King, as players wore black shirts with her initials and jersey number in their next game.
