Lando Norris set the fastest time in first practice at the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix, leading the championship standings by one point over Max Verstappen. Pierre Gasly was more than two tenths of a second behind Norris, with several rookie drivers participating in the session. Lewis Hamilton struggled with his Ferrari, finishing third fastest, while his teammate Oscar Piastri came in 10th. Second practice was scheduled for the early evening.
