Authorities announced Sunday that an inmate at the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center, identified as 40-year-old Johnnie Curtis Stevens of Norco, died in custody Friday night after being found unresponsive outside of a housing unit cell. Despite life-saving measures being administered, paramedics pronounced Stevens dead, with investigators finding no signs of foul play.
