NOAA’s 2024-25 winter forecast is here. Maps show what to expect in Rhode Island

According to a federal weather report, Rhode Island can expect a milder winter this year, with a near 50/50 chance of being warmer than usual in December, January, and February. The forecast attributes this to La Niña driving the weather pattern, with a 71% chance of emerging from September to November. Additionally, NOAA predicts above normal levels of rain for Rhode Island this fall, with a 50% to 60% chance of above average temperatures.
