The report alleged the Opposition proposed bribing MPs and officers to impeach Muizzu, but failed to gather enough support, with India not pursuing or financing the attempt. Nasheed emphasized India’s respect for democracy in the Maldives and denied any knowledge of plans to overthrow the administration, while both the Maldives government and Indian government rejected the report as a “figment of imagination”.
