Top nurses have warned that government health service reforms are at risk due to recruitment and retention issues, despite record high numbers of registered nurses and midwives in the UK. Chief executive of the Royal College of Nursing, Professor Nicola Ranger, expressed concern over the slowing recruitment of nurses and the increasing number leaving the profession within five years.
