Two families in eastern Ontario have received autism service dogs from Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB), responding to increased requests for such support. The dogs undergo specialized training to assist children with autism, including emotional regulation and safety measures, like preventing children from running off. The Beall family highlights how their dog, Fred, has improved their daughter Norah’s social interactions and family outings. CGDB plans to expand the program with more placements in the coming year.
