Netflix’s ad tier has attracted more than 70 million subscribers

Netflix has seen significant growth in its ad-supported tier, reaching 70 million users globally, up from 40 million in May. The company’s president of advertising, Amy Reinhard, highlights steady progress and over 50 percent of new sign-ups opting for ad-supported plans. While the increase in users is impressive, there is concern that it may be cannibalizing higher-priced subscriptions, though the company is banking on attracting more advertisers with live streams and themed advertisements to make up the difference.
