First Nation under boil-water advisory in Ontario for 30 years has now lost its health-care space to flooding

The chief of Neskantaga First Nation is urging the federal government to provide immediate assistance in establishing a mobile health centre for the community following the closure of their nursing station due to flooding. This facility, the only health-care centre in the remote northwestern Ontario area, has been out of operation since Sunday when the First Nation declared a state of emergency. The nursing station, named Rachel Bessie Sakanee Memorial Nursing Station, has been serving the community since its construction in 1994.
