California robotics company 1X has begun taking preorders for NEO, touted as the “world’s first consumer-ready humanoid robot,” with shipments starting in 2026. Priced at US$20,000, customers can secure their order with a US$200 deposit or opt for a US$499 monthly subscription. NEO can perform household tasks autonomously, be controlled via a mobile app, and includes an “expert mode” for complex tasks monitored by a company employee. Privacy measures are in place, allowing owners to designate no-go zones and control remote access.
