Nearly one quarter of entire right whale population seen in heavily trafficked waters off New York

Researchers from the New England Aquarium observed a large gathering of 82 critically endangered North Atlantic right whales during aerial surveys this summer, near the surface in shipping lanes off the coast of New York. The sighting highlights the urgent need for conservation efforts to protect these whales from further endangerment.
