Indonesian academic subjected to 'interview and checks' at Changi Airport as he attracted 'security attention': MHA

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) confirmed that Indonesian academic Muhammad Zulfikar Rakhmat was subjected to security checks at Changi Airport on two occasions in 2023 due to his online support for the Islamic State. He was interrogated and had his phone examined during these incidents, which occurred while transiting through Singapore. MHA emphasized that foreigners who pose security threats may be denied entry, asserting that entry to Singapore is a privilege.
