Veteran NBC sportscaster Mike Tirico had to leave his ninth consecutive Kentucky Derby broadcast due to a severe reaction to a lifelong nut allergy, which he discussed on NBC’s Today show. The 58-year-old, who has hosted major events such as Sunday Night Football and the Olympics, accidentally ingested a nut-containing snack, leading to breathing difficulties that prevented him from continuing the show. Despite this setback, Tirico is expected to return for NBC’s Preakness Stakes coverage on May 17.
