USWNT's Girma injured in WSL debut for Chelsea

Naomi Girma, women’s soccer’s first million-dollar player, was injured and replaced during her Chelsea debut against Brighton. The extent of the unspecified injury is unknown, but Chelsea coach Sonia Bompastor stated that it doesn’t appear too serious. Girma, who joined Chelsea from the San Diego Wave FC for a reported fee of $1.1 million, was replaced by Nathalie Björn in the Women’s Super League game, which ended in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea maintaining a five-point lead at the top of the standings.
