Namibia will have its first female leader after the VP wins presidential election for ruling party

Namibia has elected its first female leader, Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, with the ruling SWAPO party maintaining power for 34 years. Despite technical issues during the election, Nandi-Ndaitwah won with 57% of the vote, while opposition parties plan to challenge the results in court. The Independent Patriots for Change party led by Panduleni Itula came second in the presidential election and criticized the vote’s management, pledging to challenge the results.
