N.Y. Prosecutors Urge Supreme Court to Let Trump’s Sentencing Proceed

New York prosecutors are urging the U.S. Supreme Court to deny President-elect Donald J. Trump’s attempt to halt his criminal sentencing, arguing that it is premature and unnecessary given that the judge plans to spare him jail time. The decision, which will determine whether he enters the White House as a felon, rests with a conservative-majority Supreme Court that includes three justices appointed by Trump. His lawyers claim that the sentencing could impede his presidential duties and are seeking full immunity from prosecution and sentencing based on his election win.
