A young mother, Poppie Kudiersky, 22, was spared jail after attempting to smuggle £285,000 worth of cannabis into the UK from Thailand. She claimed traffickers threatened her child’s life if she did not act as a drug mule, leading to her arrest at Manchester Airport with 28.5kg of the drug. Kudiersky received a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, and must complete community service. Her accomplice, Mohammed Jacfer, was jailed for two years after admitting to drug importation.
