New data from Quebec’s auto insurance board shows a sharp increase in evening road accidents, including those involving pedestrians, in the 30 days following the fall time change when the sun sets earlier. The province is considering abolishing the practice of changing clocks twice a year. The data reveals a 25% rise in injury-causing accidents between 5 and 8 p.m. in the weeks after the fall time change, with collisions up by 3.8% throughout the day, while the spring time change saw a decrease in crashes.
