Kiwifruit marketer Zespri received approval from New Zealand kiwifruit growers to expand its plantings overseas, adding up to 420 hectares of Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit annually in Italy, France, Japan, South Korea, and Greece. With 90.6% of growers supporting the move, the increase in overseas plantings aims to ensure year-round availability of NZ kiwifruit, meet market demands, and enhance grower returns, as per NZKGI and Zespri executives.
