Travis Gienger of Anoka, Minnesota, won the 51st World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, California, with a 2,471-pound pumpkin, beating his closest competitor by 2.7 kilograms. Despite tough weather conditions, Gienger focused on healthy soil and well-fed plants to grow his massive gourd, which fell short of his previous world record. His next step is to have professional carvers do a 3D carve on the pumpkin at a Halloween event in Southern California.
