Jeff Carlisle, U.S. soccer correspondent for ESPN FC, reported on MLS issuing an apology for erroneously stating that Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi had joined Atlanta United as a designated player. The confusion arose from Atlanta teasing a new player arrival in Japanese, leading to the misidentification of Cayman Togashi as the actual signing instead of Furuhashi. Atlanta had previously made a bid for Furuhashi and recently appointed former Celtic manager Ronny Deila, but the player in question turned out to be Togashi and not Furuhashi.
