A landlord, Darren Williams, has faced accusations of racism towards tenants at two Auckland rental properties, including telling one couple to “go to Mumbai.” He appeared before the Tenancy Tribunal twice this year due to his treatment of tenants Niral Dedhia and Jagdev Sinder, who reported a deteriorating relationship with him during their tenancy in April last year. The couple claimed Williams attempted to demand payment for unbroken items and applied “psychological pressure” when they refused.
