White House: Military Action in Greenland Possible

The White House has stated that military action to secure Greenland, which President Trump wishes to annex, is “always an option,” despite it being part of NATO ally Denmark. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned that such actions could threaten NATO’s existence. The U.S. asserts that acquiring Greenland is vital for national security and is exploring various strategies, including potential diplomatic deals or a Compact of Free Association. Opposition from other NATO leaders will not deter U.S. ambitions regarding Greenland.
