Cloudflare CEO threatens withdrawal of Milano-Cortina Olympics funding following fine by Italian communications watchdog.

Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince announced the company may withdraw its services, including cybersecurity for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, after being fined €14 million by Italy’s Agcom for failing to comply with anti-piracy laws. He criticized the “Piracy Shield” system as lacking judicial oversight and transparency. Cloudflare plans to challenge the fine and may also withdraw services for Italy-based users. Prince will discuss the issue with US officials and the IOC ahead of the February Games.
