Mikaela Shiffrin, the U.S. skiing star and most decorated athlete in the sport’s history, won gold in the women’s slalom at the 2026 Olympics, breaking her eight-event podium drought. The 30-year-old completed her second run with a total time of 1:39.10, finishing 1.5 seconds ahead of silver medalist Camille Rast. Previously, she placed 11th in the giant slalom, where Italy’s Frederica Brigone took gold. Shiffrin praised Brigone’s performance, calling it a remarkable display of skiing.
