Migratory bird count declines in Indore; experts cite climate change, human activity as causes

A recent Bird Watch in Indore covered 13 habitats where a total of 165 bird species were observed, with Chouhan Khedi talab reporting the highest count of 66 species. Rare birds spotted included Ferruginous Duck, Verditer Flycatcher, Sarus Crane, Bonelli’s Eagle, Olive backed Pipit, and Indian nuthatch. The sites visited during the event included wetlands, forest areas, and grasslands such as Sirpur Wetland, Kajligarh Fort, Baroda DaulatMachal/Kishanpura Lake, and Umrikheda Forest.
