Microsoft announced that it successfully detected and mitigated a record-breaking distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack targeting a single endpoint in Australia. The attack peaked at 5.72 terabits per second (Tbps) and 3.64 billion packets per second (pps), making it the largest DDoS attack recorded in the cloud. This massive assault originated from a TurboMirai-class Internet of Things (IoT) botnet. Microsoft’s timely intervention highlights the growing threats posed by sophisticated DDoS attacks.
