Michael Bloomberg Tops List of American Philanthropists

In 2024, Michael Bloomberg topped the Philanthropy 50 list by donating $3.7 billion to various charitable causes, including education and public health. Other top donors included Reed Hastings, Michael Dell, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan, and Ruth Gottesman, who each gave $1 billion or more. The overall top 50 donors collectively contributed $16.2 billion, with Thomas Golisano, K. Lisa Yang, and Michele Kang also making significant donations. Buffett remains the biggest donor over 25 years, followed by Bill and Melinda Gates, while Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk rank third and fourth in overall contributions, respectively.
