Meteorite that ripped through Georgia homeowner’s roof is 20 million years older than Earth, scientist says

A meteorite that struck a home in Georgia on June 26 is estimated to be 4.56 billion years old, predating Earth by about 20 million years. The meteor, which created a loud explosion and left behind fragments, is proposed to be named the McDonough Meteorite, marking it as the 27th meteorite recovered in Georgia.
